The host company is a leading global provider of fleet management software with a large portfolio of enterprise-level clients.

The Placement

The host company is looking for someone with a keen interest in testing and development. The role will be centred around the generation of automated test cases using Selenium and the verification of internally reported bugs. Support and guidance in testing processes will be provided and you will be working in a small but dynamic testing team, where it will be possible for you to make the role your own. Interest in coding would be useful but an inquisitive and conscientious nature is essential. This is an exciting opportunity to be instrumental in both automated and manual regression testing for a complex and hugely configurable product.

The Team

The Quality Assurance Team is responsible for the testing of the host company products with the aim of ensuring quality through reliability, usability and the identification of risk. The Trainee Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for the manual and automated testing throughout the development cycle and during periodic releases. The main functions of the role are split into three categories:
  • Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures; to ensure procedures are followed throughout the business, to develop expertise within the QA remit.
  • Perform and Manage Testing throughout the Development Lifecycle; to assist in the identification and prioritisation of test cases suitable for automation, to enhance and develop the automation test suite.
  • IT Quality Assurance Team Participation; to assist and support team members within their roles, to take ownership of assigned tasks and be proactive in providing solutions to issues.

The Ideal Student

  • Studying towards a degree in IT, Computer Science or any other related field
  • Experience and knowledge of software development languages, Java preferable
  • An interest in expanding knowledge of software testing, development and QA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
