The Host Company

The host company is a wholly owned subsidiary of a German company which is a family owned strap manufacturing business based in Germany. The host company was founded in 1966 and now has close to 500 employees; it is currently headed by the family, and manufactures approximately 5000 strapping machines per year, 82% of which are exported. The host company in Germany also manufactures and exports plastic strapping material for use on their strapping machines.

The host company UK been operational since 2000 and currently has 32 employees based at UK HQ in Nottinghamshire across 5 departments: Management Team / Accounts / Customer Service and Project Management / Sales / Engineering Service. The host company in the UK has now reached a turnover of GBP 6 Million and has achieved 13 successive years of profit since 2004.
The culture at the host company is one of a "can do" and "hands on" approach which is demanded by the customer base and vital to successful sales in their market.

In the UK and Northern Europe they are a distribution outlet for plastic strapping, strapping machines and providers of spare parts and service for host company strapping machinery. They supply into many industries, the key areas being newsprint, corrugated card, distribution and timber industries in the UK; fish and timber industries are much more dominant in Norway, Finland and Sweden. The candidate needs to be able to work together with existing host company employees in the newly formed Northern European Hub. In Finland, the host company deals directly with the customer base and employs an engineer in Finland. In Norway, Sweden and Denmark, the contact is with an agent acting on host company's behalf

The host company is a business that works hard but also works smart and have used evolving IT systems to facilitate practical process flows and increased flow of high quality information that can be used to make us better.

The Placement

You will be based in our Nottingham Office and work in a team within an extremely busy Technical Sales environment.
The role involves giving proactive and reactive telephone support to their customers in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. You will work in very close contact with an internal Project Manager and 1 external Business Development Manager to provide the very best in customer support to our client base in the Nordic countries.

The key elements of the role are to be responsible for a list of prospective and current customers, customer relationship management, Telecare, processing sales orders, sales order forecasting, preparation of sales and customer reports, preparation and renewal of Service Contracts and Sales Lead Generation.

To excel in this position you must be able to speak fluent Finnish. You must be able to work well as part of a team and have clear, concise communication skills. You should have the ability to be sensitive to customers' needs and to inspire confidence in all those you interact with. You should have a friendly, engaging and professional telephone manner and be able to handle those working at all levels in business from factory floor to director level.

You will need to have good support skills and be capable of building strong relationships within your team and with customers.
Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports will require you to be accurate, numerate, have good typing and grammatical skills with excellent attention to detail.

Competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, you should have sound knowledge of Microsoft Office with IT skills at a minimum of intermediate level across the board.

You must have a pleasant, friendly and helpful attitude at all times and be able to contribute positively to the team environment by establishing and maintaining strong, inter-departmental relationships.

You will be responsible in driving and co-ordinating monthly Business Update Meetings involving a Business Development Manager and the internal Project Manager to ensure that all within the team are up to date with current customer status. You will keep an up to date action list of any on-going issues and report back to the team as required.
