About Me

My name is Mandy, 22 years old. At the moment I'm a student at the HES University of Amsterdam where I study International Business Management. The course consist of 2 semesters abroad, in the 3rd year an exchange and for the 4th year a placement is required. The UK is a great opportunity to improve my English skills and put the theory into practice. I found out about ISPO through a link-up on my University's website. They really helped me in finding the right placement and a suitable accommodation and gave me the opportunity to get in contact with other placement students in the UK, especially in Derby.

ISPO is a wonderful opportunity for students to find a placement. After having filled out a form they basically arranged everything for me and the team provides all the help needed during the placement.

Placement

Conference Derbyshire Assistant was the function at Conference Derbyshire. My task includes organizing, managing and developing the familiarization visits for the client. Moreover, I work with hotels, local authorities and partners to offer a tourism package for business clients out of the Peak District and Derbyshire. Also producing promotional material to attract people into the area is an important task within the function.

Conclusions

The placement has been a wonderful experience and has developed me in different areas. During the placement I have expanded my experience of communicating with clients. Business Tourism is a fast-pace industry and very interesting to enhance my business knowledge. Event management is a fantastic job and I had the chance to go outside the office to visit clients & events. So, it has not been a placement where you only sit behind the desk.

It has been a great opportunity and if somebody would ask me if I would do it all over again, I would definitely say yes.
