The Host Company

The host company is a first-rate gift card service provider specialised in business to business distribution to high level retailers. They are based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, but have national coverage in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The host company is a subsidiary of a parent company based in the United States of America.

The parent company has been established since 1997 and in the States they manage over 20 million gift card orders a year. Their European subsidiary was established in 2009 and has an aggressive business plan to dominate the UK and European market building on the success of the US. The company provides their customers with marketing, sales, distribution & customer service all under one roof.

The Placement

The host company is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic students with strong language skills to assist them with entering into a number of the European markets and help them in developing business in the successful candidate's native country. As well as linguistic capabilities the applicant should hold strong communication skills.

The placement will be predominately marketing & business analysis based although with a certain element of project and research work, see detailed project brief below. Due to the nature of our business there will also be an element of hands on experience within the fulfilment centre.

The host company will provide you with training to make sure you are familiar with the gift card industry. After that, the student will first carry out research on the opportunities and various options to enter the market identifying possibilities, customer needs, potential retailers and potential partners. With your creative approach you will develop a research paper complete with recommendations. Alongside the project work you will be become part of the fulfilment team and assist them in their busy periods.

You will be working in a positive work environment and be part of a small and experienced team. This placement will characterise an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and enlarge business skills in a developing organisation with an interesting service.

Project Brief

  • Defined project to secure pre existing Digital solutions for the company direct from predefined retailers and merchants across the European Union and other additional geographies.
  • To research, source, negotiate, secure and contract with these companies.
  • To set up these solutions on the company's Europe platform for the consumption of our current and future client base.
  • To obtain the appropriate and relevant marketing literature for each brand to ensure it is correctly and clearly represented on our platforms and collateral.
  • To project manage each retail code from acquisition through procurement, into implementation and go-live on the company's proprietary digital delivery system.
