The Host Company

The host company is a manufacturing company specialising in the production of engineering plastic stock shapes. Products are sold to distributors and machine shops that manufacture components for the machine building industry.

They are a part of global organisation with bases in the UK, the US, the far East and headquarters in Germany. The company have developed a reputation for innovation, quality and technical excellence. This organisation prides itself on its ability to recognise and respond to the needs of its customers.

The UK branch of operations is based in the East Midlands City of Leicester, a thriving city, ideally located in the centre of England, with good transport links to London and the rest of the country.

The Placement

The host company is looking for a student to work in their production department.

The student will be working alongside the Production Manager and technical Director, carrying out a range of tasks. These will include working towards optimsing the quality of material produced and improving efficiencies.

The student will be involved in analysis of production related data in order that production management and decision making can be well informed for effective working.

The successul applicant will be fully trained so as to become acquainted with operations. In this manner the student will be able to take responsibility for trouble shooting, thus further imporving the production processes.

The student will be expected to take an acitve part in regular production meetings, where they will deliver the findings from their analysis and make recommendations to the team.

The succesful applicant will be involved in planning production activities and will be required to take part in the hands on operational work on occasion.
