The host company covers all aspects of spring research, development, problem solving, training, spring design software, spring compression testers, spring torque testers as well as materials and mechanical testing for both spring and non-spring components and more.
Established in 1942, the company has a world-wide reputation for helping the spring industry meet the large demands for numerous types of springs and to the production of reliable designs.
The host company provide research facility design software for springs and they are focussed on small to medium sized enterprises. They work with existing spring manufacturers all over the world.
They do not manufacture the springs themselves but they do deal with springs throughout the entire development process, from the first stage of testing them, to providing the software service needed by the customer.
The company has built up an excellent reputation for technical competence, independence and impartiality worldwide in the past sixty years. The range of services and products offered has expanded over the years to ensure that they continue to be a unique service provider to the world's spring industry supply chain.
The Placement
The host company is looking for a student with a very diverse range of skills to carry out a variety of tasks.
One of the responsibilities is to assist in Sales and Business Development. The host company require a student to raise the profile of the company by using market research skills, finding market opportunities and making competitor analysis. The student must find spring manufacturers within their own country who may be interested in the services provided by the host company. The student will also be responsible for making connection with engineering specialist universities within their own country on behalf of the host organisation.
This role will also involve IT-related tasks. The student must look at systems used overseas, compare those systems with those of the host company, analyse the differences and identify opportunities for the company.
Moreover the student will also be involved in website design, ensuring that potential clients of the organisation have access to detailed information of services in their native tongue.
The student will also have a role to play in the creation of databases which will be utilised to records details of new contacts and monitor ongoing communications.
The successful applicant will be responsible for overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers between the host company and spring manufacturers internationally by using their own language, experience of international business and, ideally, some knowledge of engineering.
