The host company is based in Derby and provides first class R&D services to Aerospace, Power generation and Fuel cell companies. They are specialized in providing the connection form initial ideas to industrial solutions by delivering everything form rig to advice reports and is a link between academic partners and industry.

The company is ISO 9001:2000 approved.

The Placement

You will work in a highly experienced and dynamic team that delivers complete engineering solutions. With your good degree in BSc or PhD and interest in electronics and data acquisition you will carry out research for clients and write reports. In this attractive work environment the student will get involved with problem solving and projects management as well. Surrounded by an engineering staff and highly skilled technicians you will design, do the instrumentation and manufacture test rigs for a wide variety of applications and scales. Detailed duties will highly depend on what project they are on, which differs very often.

Being familiar with LabVIEWTM programming would be an advantage.

The Ideal Student

  • Fluent English
  • Degree to BSc or PhD level
  • Previous experience of programming (through lessons, student project or previous job placements)
  • Keen to learn new topics
  • Adaptable
  • Familiar with LabVIEWTM
  • Electronics background
  • Problem solving attitude
  • Advanced computer skills
