The Host Company

The host company is an international leader in the supply of differential consumable and capital products. Their products are supplied through five market focused divisions:

  • Mining products
  • Engineering products
  • Rail
  • Industrial
  • Power and cement

The placement that the host company are recruiting for at this stage will focus mainly on the power, cement and mining markets.

To service their global client base, developed over 85 years of operations, the host company employs a team of over 4,200 people based in manufacturing and service facilities throughout Australia, New Zealand, The United States, China and the United Kingdom.

The Placement

The host company is looking for a German speaking student to take part in a diverse and exciting placement, based within the offices in the thriving City of Sheffield. They have identified potential for their products relating to the power and cement and mining divisions, within Germany and are seeking ways to progress this.

Tasks will be diverse and will include the following:

Market research will be carried out to identify potential customers for the host organisation within the German market. Building on from this there will be a strong sales element to the role. Again this will be diverse and will involve the contact of customers and potential customers using a variety of communication mediums, such as phone, mail and email. In addition to this the successful applicant will be required to partake in regular - approximately monthly - market visits to Germany, accompanying the Regional Sales Manager to present the company to potential clients.

In readiness for the company's growth in to the German market, you will also be required to prepare appropriate marketing materials.

In addition to making initial sales approaches, the successful applicant will also be involved in an account management capacity, maintaining the relationships with the new and existing, German based, customers.

This placement represents an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and develop business skills in a genuine internationally based organisation.

  • Willingness to communicate with German buyers and engineers (training will be given to ensure technical knowledge of products)
  • Willingness to travel to Germany on a regular basis

Ideally the student will be a German native with some experience in engineering and a driving licence, though this is not essential.

Accommodation costs will be paid for by the host company.
