The Host Company

The host company is amongst the largest of the UK's family owned manufacturers of single use medical devices. The company's products are used for patient care throughout the UK and in over 50 countries worldwide. 

The host company is becoming increasingly recognised as a dedicated and respected leader within their highly specialised field.

The Placement

The host company are looking for an international student preferably from Scandinavia, Germany or Netherlands (other nationalities will also be considered providing applicants possess the required skills) to carry out a minimum 4-6 month work placement within their offices in Derby.  The student will be responsible for conducting desk based research into new markets and opportunities i.e. looking for potential sales leads and new distribution agents in markets where the host company is not currently represented such as Sweden, Norway, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. 

The student will also be required to carry out daily administration activities including sales order processing and export logistics such as booking shipments and preparing shipping documentation. 

The student will be responsible for reporting back to the Export Sales Manager and Export Sales Administrators.

The successful applicant will ideally have a background that includes sales and marketing and will be required to use high levels of initiative.

The Ideal Student

  • Native Swedish, Scandinavian, German or Dutch
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Able to undertake desk based sales orientated research
  • Experience of sales and marketing
  • Confident
  • Self motivated with lots of initiative
