The Host Company

The host company is a very successful organisation based in the East Midlands region of England enjoying an international circulation of its products, having distributors in Australia, Europe, the USA and the Middle East. The company manufactures and supports a unique range of label and sign printing systems. They have been in operation for 18 years, over which time they have continually adapted and improved their product range, maintaining their high quality in the face of technical advances.

Indications of their commitment to providing a high quality level of service and product can be seen in their customer base which is wide and varied, covering diverse private and public sector organisations. Another indication of high standards can be seen in the fact that the company have received both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation including some of the largest and most successful companies in the UK.

The Placement

The host company are looking for a number of international students to help support their domestic and overseas operations. The roles offer successful applicants a diverse range of valuable experiences.

The host company will provide training so that students are fully aware of the organisations products and services. This is an excellent placement opportunity, representing valuable, real business experience with an opportunity to travel. This placement will thoroughly enhance any CV and allows potential for career development in a number of ways.

The students will be involved in a range of activities which could include the following:

  • Exhibiting - Attendance of exhibitions overseas with a view to raising the organisations profile amongst customers, potential customers and overseas distributors.
  • Marketing - Although not marketing roles specifically, there will be an element of marketing activity including analysis of exhibition results and research into potential areas of expansion.
  • Sales - Aside from exhibiting students will also be involved in direct sales activity, which will include communicating with distributors in a bid in increase overseas trade. Creating samples for client evaluation and providing data to aid product selection.
  • Dealer Support - Day to day international communication, via email and telephone, with the dealer network providing knowledge back-up and advice on all issues of sales and user support.
  • Translation/Interpretation - This could include providing support at meetings, offering translation services and also the translation of marketing materials and technical data information for overseas use.
  • Training distributors for international trade - The host company provides its distributors with full product training so that they are able to promote the company's products to the same high standard as they are promoted domestically by the organisation itself. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take part in this process, particularly in relation to training provided to distributors in the student's native country.
